Im taking a stab at the heavily saturated keywords job search. Very competitive since the market is flooded with people out of work. If you were to attempt this, what methods would you take?

FWIW I launched jobs dot aplace4people dot com on Nov 1st. its a job board with ppc revenue from simply hired dot com. Just hit a PR2 on the NYE toolbar update. However i am now where near being ranked where i want it to.

Im competing for some very saturated keywords as well. Which one big key word im number 18! For today but it took me 8 months to get there. It just takes time and patients and u have to keep updating your sites with a blog or something

Find out what the competitor is doing, which keyword they rank for, what backlinks they have and which sites are pointing to it.

    Hello...

Evidently you have been doing alot on the site but neglected to build good backlinks
therfor you arent even coming close to top pages.

Also how competitive? 10 million results or less/more?

    thx

i suggest going after the 5-7 low competition keywords and dominate them completely. Its better as getting a piece of the big pie is really tough but getting small pieces is easy

First up i would fix your on-page SEO as it's pretty horrible. You have things like 2 Meta Descriptions and keywords, one in the head and another in the body, bad page titles and URL's etc.

Get all that fixed up before you think about anything competitive.

Thanks for the tips, I have not even begun to optimize that page. I have very little contol of it as its being served off my box. its from jobamatic. I did just look at the source and see what your saying with the two meta's I can easily fix that. and keep the comments coming. learning a lot from this site.

You should build backlinks from many different sources such as article marketing,
blog posting, and social media sites.
