Just my experience so far.. Just started a site. My conversion is simply a user clicking as I just run PPC ads.

    Opt-In Mailing list1 ($10/500k emails) - About 10-20 Unques a day - no conv.
Opt-In Mailing list2 ($39 lifetime) - No uniques. Asked for refund.
Adwords - About 20 visits/day - had to have min bid at least .20 - good conv.
Facebook - PPC - just started. Bid is .20 - low as far as fb is concerned. nothing yet
Facebook - CPM - 18k impressions first 8 hrs. Only 10 clicks though. .20/1000 impressions.
Posting on blogs, classifieds. About 10 uniques a day. Good conv. Did manage to get about 250 Yahoo backlinks. None on google.

    Oh and buying traffic.

One provider $1.90 for 10k visits (promo). About 15 UV/day, no conv. Lousy as expected.

Another provider - just started about $10 for 10k visits. Got 1000 so far, very minimal conversion.

    Mhh,

Have you tried creating videos and uploading them to youtube/google/yahoo/dailymotion etc?
That is a great way to get visitors to your website.

I just started mine about4 days back, I already have about 900 uniques per day.

    Good luck.

Great idea to be using multiple channels to bring in traffic to your site.

But ... You're leaving out a critical step in my opinion.

    List Building.

ALL of these methods should be taking visitors to a site that includes a subscription form with an invitation to subscribe to your list. This could be an offer for a free report, a pdf, links to tips and secrets related to your offer, or as plain as an invitation to join your list for future updates.

It all depends on what you are offering.

By building your lists, you can:

    1) Generate repeat visitors.
    2) Generate repeat sales.
    3) Build your credibility.
    4) Build brand recognition
    5) Offer additional related products and service.

Compare the value of having someone visit your site one time vs having the ability to bring them back to your site and other sites over and over again.
