hello everyone. I developed a web based calculator to help online merchants to compare the yearly cost associated with a few payment gateways in the US. I am opened to suggestions to improve this calculator. Perhaps I will develop one version for each major currency.

You can use the calculator at no charge at http://www.paymentgatewayfees.com/

Would like to hear from you soon.

Only one of those listed is a payment gateway (authorize.net). The others are 3rd party processors. You're comparing apples to an orange here.

If you want a list of payment gateways (all of which require a merchant account), there's:
    authorize.net - http://www.authorize.net/
Paypal (formerly verisign) payflo - https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_payflow-pro-overview-outside
    Network Merchants - http://nmi.com
    Linkpoint - http://www.firstdata.com/linkpoint/
    Plugnpay - http://www.plugnpay.com/
    Eprocessing network - http://www.eprocessingnetwork.com/

There's probably a ton more but these are some of the more popular ones. Services like 2checkout, normal Paypal, World pay, Moneybookers, etc., are 3rd party processors.

Hi jestep. Thanks for pointing out. To the non-technical merchants, all these online payment methods do almost the same things and are thought as "payment gateways" although most of these are not.

What common name do you suggest for all these online payment methods? The keywords "payment gateways" seems to be the popular term used when one search for services to process credit cards payments. That is the reason I am "generalizing" them.

The correct name would be an online payment processor or 3rd party processor.

Just tried it.. not very accurate to be honest cause you do not factor in the tiered fees.

hi iphonien. Thanks for pointing out about the tiered fees. I have thought of this for the next phase. However, this calculator is only an estimate.

PayPal has different fees for different transaction volume.
