Over the past month I have been comparing a few of Digital Points regular webhosts for uptime to see who is best, so you can decide where you would host your website. All information has been collected through siteuptime.com. Now its your choice, although I know where I would host my site. iwhic, maybe he's referring to your first server. I have also setup an automatic monitoring system with mon.itor.us and it seems that I most of the time get downtime report of your site. Nevertheless, it's still good compared to others I am with suntexhosting and i can say they are very good. One of the best perhaps. -bank-, redihot does not offer unmetered hosting/reseller so you really cant compare iwhic and suntex as they have different "niche" so to speak sorry to ask this but cant help, were you paid by redihot? or are you the owner of redihot? if you are the owner, i think what you did is kind of impolite to both iwhic and suntexhosting. if you want to promote your hosting business, do not put down other business also. just my 2 cents

Yes we use host tracker as well.. but if you are monitoring our website iwhic.com.. please remember that we will change our dns and switch between our servers from time to time.. This does not effect any one on our servers.. as they do not use iwhic.com as name servers.. the best way to track our up time is to do it with a site you have on our server.. we have many servers and have paid monitoring on all of them and they track and monitor the server not the websites.. I am not going to defend myself here as i feel i do not need to. and yes thank you it is not bad but it is not correct either. as you know that dns takes a min to change.. so that will reflect the uptime of OUR site no one else's.. He is the owner and he is trying to promote his sales.. That is ok because we have a good reputation here and do pretty good for our selfs and take care of our customers..
I am watching google.com with mon.itor.us , Just registered for checking mon.itor.us's monitoring system. A couple of days back I got an uptime report < google.com uptime 83.99%> I still have the email with me. mon.itor.us is a joke Well, I didnt hear redihot.com before. Plus I never saw someone who is the owner of a webhosting company comparing them with other hosts As iwhic said, its better to monitor your own site hosted with us or the server IP instead of our main domain. First,I think you should have a "fair play" here.It isnt good to fight each other,even at public forums. Second,webhostingstuff isnt reliable.It have much time difference between the pings. Thats right. Webhostingstff is not actually a monitoring site and they dont have a good monitoring system. Go for siteuptime and hosttracker Vivek
It doesn't provide accurate result because it monitors at 1 hour interval If you count 30 minutes siteuptime report, your uptime would certainly reach 100% anyway at the end of the month, and the same happens with webhostingstuff's too
Hi i agree that webhostingstuff, and any of the free or very cheap monitering systems do not work,, we only have them up for purposes that you guys want them.. are server management team moniters or servers and the up time and i do not have a link where i can show them to you.. as they are in my client area.. but this si how ours are tested// We do not use Ping requests as a determination of whether or not the server is up. Ping requests are very unreliable for this task since in most instances a Ping request will respond as long as the server is powered on and booted up. We send actual requests to the server, simulating a "real" request, just as if you were accessing the server. But have fun with this... guys
Iwhic, first of all understandably, this may seem slightly biased, although I have used an external monitor which a large proportion of people use which has a good repuation to provide good results. As in the image, the stats are based on outages not actual time down. The results were based on home pages, so I guess if you've changed your nameservers or the server ip's are different then the results may not be correct. sharmaine, I have nothing against any of the hosts, just posting my findings about uptime, this doesn't reflect there service and what they offer. From what it seems suntex and iwhic are good hosts, they've probably been on dp for the longest time so they must be pretty good. Both seem like good members and friendly people, I was just making a comparison. Also the services are different, you are correct, I was merely showing the difference in uptime. Lastly I can understand you point of view, and I appoligise, although I thought people should be able to see the difference. The stats were compared by siteuptime, and I understand webhostingstuff isn't reliable for this type of stats. Sorry, if this has offended anyone, though they are straight statistics.
Over the course of the next 30 days IwhiC will be doing some major changes with servers. Right now we are testing a few new data centers and WE have moved DNS a couple times this past Month to test speeds and what Not. I will say that 98.9 does not sound bad or is it ( Based in 1 test ) Ill take that.. Though my monitor shows other wise. But FYI to those that are monitoring IwhiC we are clustering a new dns server in Seattle and to complete this with our website, We may be down for a few hours. We will let all clients know that support may be out for a few hours later this week, Just IwhiC.Com no one else will be effected. Thanks for the interesting finding's on Uptime.. I'm going to stop the monitors on suntex and iwhic. Also, iwhic, its nice to see another host care about is customers, rather than some other who just dump clients with no understanding for issues.
We have been hosting for over 15 Months, We have bought out 4 other host in our time. Clients at IwhiC will NEVER get dumped.. We value each and every client and will do what we can to provide a great hosting experience. The saying goes. You cant please everyone, But we try! Also I just reviewed last weeks stats provided by our DC for Server IwhiC and the results are 99.988 for This Month.. Jason
That would be internal network sla, therefore the uptime over the internet is different. Anyway, think this post is done. MOD could you close it?
Almost all the good hosts here, and you know whom I'm talkin about here, does have an uptime over 99%. Uptime should only be an issue if you are going with a new host. Anyway, to judge a host of Dp, honestly the only way is to monitor there behaviour, response to issues, and motivation to solve them. Thats what makes a good host anyway, everyone has a good uptime more or less nowadays, and its simply idiotic to judge them on that basis only.
