Compare "Base.Google" to "Google.com"

I considered the following comparison worth posting since I found nothing similar in results of a general Google search for the [difference of search results between "www.google.com" and "base.google.com"].

Curious about the relative merits of (www.google) and (base.google) searches, I found (in late December 2005) 93,400 results by entering the phrase in brackets here ["corn pudding" recipe] in a (www.google) search but only 15 results by entering ["corn pudding"] in the (base.google) recipe category search.

I wondered if this indicates the difference between (www.google) searching world-wide web sites in general and (base.google) searching specifically only member postings on its own site.

After I received an email from someone frustrated that when he posted to (base.google) an item it did not show up in (google.com), I retested my hypothesis by repeating my search for ["corn pudding"] on (base.google). It now gave 24 instead of the 15 results I got originally. Then I tested how many of those I could find on (www.google). I found that only two of the 24 showed up; none of the other 22 showed up. I take it then that the 22 were originally posted only on (base.google), a kind of a private site independent from the other Internet-at-large sites searched by (www.google). I can only guess that the two that did show up on both searches must have been posted also at-large and/or posted differently on (base.google).

Appreciative of any other explanations, I am
