    Hello Guys,

my friend is using a compaq presario c 700 laptop. Some times when he is working on it without any proper information or popups its just shutting down. Anybody here knows why this happens? Its an 1.5 years old one.

    Please reply.

I have a friend who is also using a Compaq notebook. Her laptop always shutdown due to overheating. Using a notebook cooler solve the problem.

Dynashox you are very correct. I asked him to bring his laptop and tried using it with loading minimum programs. It never gone off. Could you tell me what exactly is a notebook cooler. Is this happens because of the over heat produced by compaq?

Before you go out and buy a laptop cooler, use compressed air and blow out all of the fans! This could save you the money. This is almost always an issue with laptops that are shutting down, and can normally be solved just by getting all the dust out of them.

Also note that using the laptop on a hard surface is better than a soft one. This allows the heat to dissipate much more easily.

You can also check your cpu temps, and see how they rise. One program you can use to do this is very small and easy to use, it CPU TEMP. http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/

Here's an example of a laptop cooling device.
They are relatively cheap, and the good ones do their job well for the cost.

The problem must be with the construction of the Compaq laptop or that the ventilation system is obstructed, the internal components are not getting enough airflow during strenuous operation. A device like the one I linked above can help with that issue.

Also, like Sam Lewis said, make sure you take a can of compressed air and thoroughly clean out the laptop's ventilation ducts and fan and see if that makes a difference. If the fan(s) is clogged up, blowing it out with air might solve the problem in a very inexpensive way.

First check and see if there is a switch anywhere on your computer to turn wifi on. If not, look up a driver for it on google. It should not be that hard to find.
