Just finished upgrading my very very old Compaq (on the cheap). The only original piece left is the case. Which I liked the looks of for some reason. In more detail... My host has been acting funky today so that page might or might not show up...
great U/G based on your budget! and good grief, it ought to be leaps and bounds faster than the old system!! I got lazy this time around and went for a full out new system built by someone else!
No question about it being faster... I could have saved about $20 and ended up with a better power supply if I had bought a new case w/ power supply instead of buying a seperate new power supply, hdd fan and pci slot fan... Doing that also would have allowed me to get a different MB/CPU combo which could have shaved off another ~$20. but once again... I just really liked the looks of that old case. not my pc but... I'm thinking about doing some more dremmel work and adding a couple of front USB ports beside the 3 1/2 inch enclosure. The pinouts are on the motherboard for them... and it's such a hassle to have to dig around to the back of the case to get to the current ports...
