ok, got an e-mail from a woman who is interested in advertising on my site. I've never recieved anything like this so don't know how to reply. Please read the letter and tell me how to professionally reply and what I should consider charging or see what they're paying. Thanks btw, I dunno if she wants to ads advertise on my main page www.offthaave.com or www.offthaave.com/forums . I'm in the process of building a new mainpage www.offthaave.com/new1 which will be offthaave.com when completed.
Sounds like a text link exchange site. They will sell the ads on your site. One problem to watch for is some people add links that redirect sites. It might be the company that is buying the text links or someone useing them. I have had problems with some sites like this and some banner exchanges redirecting people from my site to other sites. They also might be new company and need alot of traffic to show customers. This way people will buy ads from them. You can do it but 1 month at a time seems like they should buy 3 months or more from you. You have to ad code to your site and then watch to make sure no problems with it so i would want to be paid more up front than 1 month.
thanks for the fast reply. So you think I should extend it 2-3 months instead of 1? And how much should I consider? Thanks again
Not sure about price. You have alot of members and traffic. I see some sites ask for $7 a day for ads but i doubt they would pay that. What would be nice extra money for you. $20 $30 a month. Even $15 a month is only 50 cents a day for them. You can ask her what price she is thinking of and counter with a little higher price. i would say 2 months for ad that way you know your making some money for your time. She wants ad on forum so they are after the traffic from the site. Sorry took so long on another site as we speak.
thanks alot rcj. I can also tell her how I'm building on to our mainpage with much more features so maybe that can boost the price a little. I'll ask her how much they're willing to offer and see what I can get out of it. If anyone knows how I should write the letter, give me good pointers. Don't want to write a letter that sounds like I don't know what I'm talkin about (which I almost don't) then they'll walk over me.
You could write her. Thank you for your email about advertising on my forum. While we do accept paid advertising we usualy deal with longer term packages. If you would like to send me a url to view your links script on a site and a offer for 2 months advertising i would be more than happy to review it. Sincerly YOUR NAME Your site Your email Simple fast no muss or fuss. This way you get her starting price off and you can counter. Never know they might offer more than you think.
ok, here's what I got. Sound decent? Should I include that we are about to release the new mainpage with loads of other features that will dramatically increase traffic? Or should I just wait for a reply before all of that?
Looks good. Work details out for forum first. You can tell her after she makes offer about the new sections being added soon.
ok she wrote back, didn't really say anything about a 2 month term though. I really could use the extra money though so I'll have to take it. Thanks however.
I received the same exact email and reply from them, but their offer per month was higher than $20. Good luck.
