    Hi,

I was just wondering if i should be putting my company name in the title tag or not?

e.g. This is an example title - Company Name

Does this make much difference or not?

    Cheers,
    Adam

My experience is if the company name is the same word as the content is about.
And of course when people search on your name in the search engines it helps too.
    Otherwise why should you?

I Think ,Company name is already coming in our domain names so we don't need to waste space of content in very useful Titles, you can use some important keywords in title tags.

You should not use your company name in the title, because the words you put in the title tag will share the weight of the title tag, so how more words how lower the weight per word will be.

Let say that the title tag has a weight of e.g. 1 and you put the 4 main keywords in it:

    "Search Engine Optimization Forum"

The weight per word is now 1/4 = 0.25

    Know with Company name:

"Search Engine Optimization Forum | Digitalpoint"

The weight per word is now 1/5 = 0.2

Of course this is an oversimplification but it kind of work this way.
Also try to put your most important words more to de beginning of the tag, so even if you use your company name then put it on the end.

If your company name is branded and quite popular in search engine, you can use it in your title tag otherwise consider adding potential keywords in place.

I always used company name in my title tag as to brand the searcher with your company name as they scan through the results after a search.

I think it is not much important. Title should be within 80 characters. So if you could provide some very interesting information to your visitors rather than company name than you should not add it in title.

And more important is to add your top keywords of the page into the title. So first focus on that.

Company name in title does not matter.

If your company name is a big part of your marketing ie do you have a product that could be recoginsable as much by your name as by the product name, then include it in the title tags where relevant. If you monitor your search traffic and or/ use AdWords, how many users are arriving at your site thanks to a search on your company name? If it's low or the search volume is low, you may be better using that space on actual keyword optimisation.

I would just use it if the name is relevant for the search or if it does include important keywords, otherwise I wouldn`t as the recommended number of characters to be used is 60 max

If it is any page other that the contact-us or about-us page, the answer is NO. Most site will rank high on their company name by it's self but the keyword phrases in the <title> and the density of that is most important. The company name just reduces the keyword density.

But on the contact-us or about-us pages, put the company name first (i.e.

    <title>Company name : Geo-Location - About Company name</title> )
