nope. i knew of a site called cokestudios.org it was a fan site for the website cokestudios.com and they got a letter from coca cola saying that they had to close it otherwise legal actions would take place because they had the word coke in it.

And that's really the answer to your question. :)

Know who you're dealing with, then act accordingly.

Only if the domain name has a term used as a trademark by that company.

oh ok, so what if you put a trademark on your logo, compnay name, domain name, in canada and someone from lets say the other side of the world or something uses the company name in the domian name is there any possible case against them or no?

There are 2 ways for a party to address their domain-trademark issues: file a
lawsuit, or file a Uniform Dispute Resolution Policy or whatever applicable form
of dispute resolution. Just search in Google or here for UDRP.

so lets say i trademark a name in canada, but that would only be trademarket in canada and not anywhere else, so how can i trademark a name globally?

Oh...by using the term as a trademark in commerce globally. :D

Realistically, though, being able to use such as a trademark is only as good as
your ability to enforce it whereever. As you can imagine, it can be very costly
trying to use such around the world.

Next best thing is what's called the Madrid Protocol. Be aware its limits are it
isn't as affordable as filing a registration in your jurisdiction, and not all of the
countries in the world (e.g. Iraq) agree with it.

Just do what you can under the circumstances.

Technically, at any second they can get a lawyer and demand the domain name. However, unless you are somehow directly harming them, this is EXTREMELY unlikely. I would say it is safe to register a domain like www.GoogleHelp.com or something unless you attempt to harm the company (Google in this example) and even then, there is a small chance.
