Many people run their own businesses with no employees. Hiring people is expensive and in Europe it requires a lot of expenses like social security and so on which can be rather overwhelming for a small business. I'm thinking of starting my own business but never got around to starting because I have no free time to go around taking care of legal issues. A good thing is that it only takes one day to register and start a business.
Sole Trader? Thats a term i havent heard before, is it a European term? In the United States i've heard it called being a Sole Properietorship. (sorry for the botch spelling.) Look at Wiki and find the word Sole_proprietorship I cant post the link, havent been here long enough yet.
I think it's a term used in the UK. In Portugal there is no difference between a business with 1 employee or 10. What matters is how the business is formed, partnership, etc...
