companies intials we use in everyday language

    but do we ever stop to think what they stand for?

    i.e BMW Bayerische Motoren Werke (Bavarian Motor Works; German auto manufacturer)

    IBM is an obvious one (although it's not used as often as it use to be ow that they are out of the PC business). Did you know that the HAL computer from the movie 2001 is based off the IBM acronym? It is just one letter greater for all 3 initials.
