Went from PR2 to PR3 in last update in September. Checked this morning and went back to PR2. Is this normal?

    no, not at all

ive never seen page rank go up and then down in quick succession, suggest you probably didnt actually get more page rank, plus i think most of my sites got an update in august not september.

maybe your page rank bar isnt working correctly an needs an update

A lot of people of this forum are also experiencing PR jumps. They see their PR going up and down, sometimes a few times. It may be because it is taking a while for the updated PRs to show up on all Google data centers. So perhaps when you check sometimes it accesses a different data center.

If you lose PR it has to happen during some time of the day, overnight, morning, noon, or whenever.

Did you lose traffic, did you lose backlinks, did you lose money. That's what matters. PR is just a measuring device like a thermometer.

Were there any bigger PR changes ? Maybe your PR is exactly in the middle
such as 2,4999997, and G doesn't know what to do with it, to print 2 or 3.
In this case you would have 'strong' 2 easy to update next time.

The only time I have seen this is when the site had a "gray hat" linking scheme taking place. If you are doing reciprocal linking, one of the filters was applied. This could have come from a competitor ratting you out.
