Commission Junction refusal

I've only been using CJ for a week or two, I've applied to several advertisers that require their approval, and have gotten all those within a few days.

I just applied to one, and got an instant refusal as soon as I hit the "apply to Program"

Your application has been declined by this advertiser for one or more reasons. If you have a question please contact the advertiser through advertisers detail page within the account manager.

    Any insights?

That is just an automatic filter. They filter out sites using criteria like country and category or theme.

Don't feel bad, it doesn't mean they didn't like your site, it is just an automatic message. Forget about it and move on. :)

Yeah it's probably country, they are US, and I'm Canada, but most of the links I've got approval for are US. Doesn't make any sense why they should limit it. since all the web sites I'm putting links on are targetted to World or US.

It's annoying since I have a site that is very targetted towards their products.

Just email them and tell them. They'll usually let you in.

Definitely worth emailing them as it has worked for me sometimes.

Some programs don't like working with non-US people because of payment issues and others just seem too stupid to realise that you don't have to live in the US to target US people.

Some programs have clueless managers and some of the them don't even have a manager. Some had the auto filtering set up and dont even know it.

If it's a program you REALLY want, please do email them. Mistakes happen and no company wants to filter someone out who is very interested in promoting them. Email and give them a chance. If you don't get an answer then they probabably are not very well managed anyway. Find another merchant.

PS if they don't answer and it looks like a REALLY, REALLY good program, send me the lead and if we take them on as a client we will pay you a finders fee. :p

LOL macdesign, your lucky you don't live in Australia, we get refused by so many companies it's not funny anymore, apparently allthough the internet is the world wide web, the world to most Americans is the USA only.

Out of interest, what affiliate program do you Australian's use? I have a section on my site dedicated for those living in Oz and thought I should find a relevant affiliate that offers ads to Australian's and in OZ dollars....

My country is even more 'exotic', but I emailed a few aff programs contacts at CJ.com and I've been approved for most of them. You can't lose contacting the merchants anyway. :)

Did you tried affiliate programs related to loans or dating? In yahoo personals or match.com there is no way to get there not being US citizen.

It can be frustrating...I applied to 12 loan programs and only got approved
by half. The others have been sitting in the approval queue for 3 or 4 days now. Either they are really slow to approve; or the way they decline is just not to approve...which is what I suspect.

I did have three auto-decline, and that has to be because I am canadian. I really have no idea why that should make a difference. My site is for the american market, so whats the big deal ? My leads would be exactly the same as from an american owned site... I can't believe that anyone would refuse free advertising !

Its like someone already posted in this thread, some people must just be too stupid to realize that on the internet, the market you target need have nothing to do with your physical location.

Anyways, thanks 5-star for your advice in this thread. I sent emails to the ones I wanted most and already got one more approval.
