Comments to Build Back Links...Seems pointless.... straighten me out!

Commenting on other blogs to obtain back links seems like a great idea, a real way to get quality back links on related topics. You give a bit of content to the author and you get a link back to your site via the link you put on the post form.

One problem, every WP blog I've found has nofollow links on the comments.

Am I missing something here? Doesn't that make the links useless for PR?

I thought I had dofollow on my own blogs but nope, they are all nofollow too, how do I change that, do I want to change that? It seems like dofollow would be a way to encourage comments. I'm well enough protected from spam so that's not an issue.

Thanks.

It is not easy to find dofollow blogs these days, although I see some dofollow blogs lists here and there. Even if you find dofollow blogs, blogger may decide to make it nofollow later and you may lose all the links that you worked hard to build. I think forums are better than blog comments in my view.

To make your wordpress blog dofollow, there are some plugins available. Just do a search on "wordpress dofollow plugin" and then pick one.

Yes, there are plugins available to make the wordpress blog "do follow". Wordpress by default has the design which makes all links in comments as "no follow".
In case you are making your blog do follow, make sure you put up a badge or a widget to openly show and let know people that you have a do follow blog.

Thanks for the tip on dofollow badge. I think I may already have a plugin that will do that but not sure which option. I have platinum SEO. I'll try the developers page to see what I can find. If that plugin doesn't do it, I'll search for somethingg that ads that. Thanks!

Yes, that's because most of the comments are NoFollow.
Furthermore most bloggers won't approve keyword rich "names" ;)

### from your site ### class="recentcomments">Kim Woodbridge | (Anti) Social Development ###

I almost added you to a list of "Do Follow" blogs, but you didn't quite get there yet. ;)
