Comments on your Blog?

Do you allow people to comment on your blog? If you don't, why not?

I currently don't but that's more out of laziness than anything else. I think by not allowing commenting you lose out on a lot of the blog experience. (not to mention free content)

I just started my own blog, and I do allow it partly because I feel if the reader is engaged, they will be more inclined to come back.

I usually don't subscribe to blogs that don't allow comments. I feel the interaction is really missing... no one can ask question, praise, criticize etc.

I love to receive comments, as long as they are not spams. That is why both my blogs are dofollow. It takes me quite some time to realize that I have to delete the nofollow tag from html code.

I hate to be blunt, but I think any blog that disables comments is doing itself an extreme injustice. You're practically defying the entire point of a blog - which is essentially to provide an opinion about something that can subsequently be challenged by readers.

You blog to let others know about something, so why to stop others expressing their opinion? I really don't like blogs that do not allow comments!

I allow comments on my Technology Blog and its also a DoFollow Blog.

But I have to approve all new comments to stop spamming :)

Gotta agree with that. There are those who feel that not allowing comments doesn't make it a blog. Blogshares discusses this from time to time.

I do, however if anyone want to have a meaningful discussions and comments under the blog posts they have to have a lot of visitors and to build some kind of community!

I use Worpdress for many different types of sites. Some for "company sites" where there is no constant flow of new information, therefore comments are not needed or wanted, the goal is to get people to use the contact form, or call.

I have blogs that are more for information, rather than discussions and I do keep comments open, but never expect any since I do not raise any issues that require discussion and all the information, and links are within the post. The goal is to get people to click the links.

Then I have a blog ( that I am starting up again under a new name) that is strictly opinion, and discussion and comments will definitely be enabled.

I think it all depends on how you are using the platform. Just because you are using Wp or Blogger or any other "blogging" platform, doesn't mean that you are using it as a blog.
