I was wondering what happens if you comment your own blog posts to make it seem more popular and people are looking at it. Do google penalize you because the comments are from the same IP. Does IP even matter when it comes to blog post comments?

I'm sure this will benefit a lot of people, let's have an open discussion.

This has nothing to do with SEO. It simply adds content to the page. Google does not know what IP submitted the comments unless you are posting IP's which you should not be doing.

Aside from that posting comments to make your blog look posted in, can be self defeating. Of course its nice to try and make things look like the place to participate, but you would do far greater trying to spend the time writing great posts that people will find and trying to syndicate the content and marketing it.

    Hope that helps!

commenting your own blog posts will not help you to get more backlinks because of the same ip.

it will not have any effect because of same ip
