Just a few questions about commenting on blogs. I have learned throught this forum that one of the best way to build back links to your site is to comment on blogs. These blogs need to blogs have the "Top Commentor" plugin enabled. Just a few things that I have ran into while doing this that I need to get cleared up. 1. How crucial is it that the blog I comment on is related to my site? I product custom fortune cookies and I am having a brain cramp as to what topics would fit me. Is it crucial that they meet the same topic as my site? 2. When placing the comment it asks for my web address. Should this be my actual web address i.e. www.tankinz.com or the address where my blog is located, i.e. www.tankinz.com/blog? 3. I have noticed that some of the blogs I comment on will not let me do so because I don't have a link at my site for their blog. Not all of the blogs I looked require this. Is the something that is good or bad for my backlinks? Should I give a link or find blogs that don't require this. 4. If I do need to link to them how do I do this?? I use wordpress for my blog. Any help would be much appreciated, I am just a newbie when it comes to these topics. Thanks much. Rufman the custom fortune cookie guy www.tankinz.com
1.) The chances of your comment getting accepted would probably be greater if the niche was similar to yours. Plus links from relevant sites tend to look more "natural". 2.) Your choice. Give the address for which you want to build links for. 3.) Weird-I've never seen blogs which accept comments only if you link to them. You will probably be better off without them. 4.)A link- your wordpress dashboard has an option to add links.
1. It is best for SEO for the blog you comment on to be on the same niche as yours, but its not a must, if you comment properly, both will do good. 2. As mentioned above, whatever you want to build links for. 3. Also same, never seen a blog that requires a link back to comment... never 4. You can simply edit the template files, or use the Blog Roll widget, or just a simple html widget and edit the contents.
. 1. How crucial is it that the blog I comment on is related to my site? I product custom fortune cookies and I am having a brain cramp as to what topics would fit me. Is it crucial that they meet the same topic as my site? -> It is very crucial that the site is related to you if you want to rank well in search engines. Also the visitor demopgraphics will be similar and you could get some traffic from the comment links 2. When placing the comment it asks for my web address. Should this be my actual web address i.e. www.tankinz.com or the address where my blog is located, i.e. www.tankinz.com/blog? The address should be the the webpage you wish to rank. If you want google to list your blog when someone search for fortune cookies then use the blog, but I guess the actual address is where you would want your visitors to be. 3. I have noticed that some of the blogs I comment on will not let me do so because I don't have a link at my site for their blog. Not all of the blogs I looked require this. Is the something that is good or bad for my backlinks? Should I give a link or find blogs that don't require this. Ignore those. If they are going to link you back, then its fine, but I don't see why you need to link to thenm to be able to comment. 4. If I do need to link to them how do I do this?? I use wordpress for my blog. Wordpress has blogroll. Or u can edit the sidebar file in the theme editor
It's probably better to comment with in your niche for SEO purposes. However, staying in the same niche can be boring. As long as your commenting it's good for everyone involved. You never know that comment might bring you a hardcore fan.
