First post on this excellent forum - hope I can learn and contribute a lot here!

    Here's my problem:

Several times I've come across blogs/articles that I've been able provide worthwhile information and opinion to and wished to link-out to more info. However, when I try to provide a descriptive hyperlink (where the anchor text describes the link's content) it appears as the html rather than a hyperlink e.g. < a href="www.thislink.com">Appears Like This</a > (note: I've spaced between the <>'s to avoid it appearing as a text link, if it indeed would).

What code do I use to post a descriptive link rather than just a non-descriptive URL?

you could also try [URK =hxxp://qqq.YOURURLdotcom]Anchor Text Here [/URK]

    replace xx with tt
    replace qqq with www
    replace dotcom with .com
    replace URK with URL

cant post links yet ;) hope this helps
no spaces between URL and =

When you submit a comment on other people's blog, you are usually asked to provide your name, email address, URL and comment text itself. Did you catch the idea? Yes, you use your keyword anchor text as your name. When your comment is posted, your URL is attached to the text you entered in the "Name" field and voila… you have one more backlink to your website. For example, instead of typing "John Doe" as your name, type "anchor text describes the link's content", or whatever your site's top keywords are.

And… be sure to write something useful in the comment section, so it doesn't look like 100% spam. Post a comment only if you have something of value to add to the discussion and not just to get links. Your comment will be pending for approval and blog owners are much more likely to approve your comment if it is relevant. Remember, the only cost of your new backlink is a comment. So, take a few moments to write a meaningful comment. Note that you may not insert any links into the text of your comment because you already have a link in your name.

CharacterPlanet Thanks very much for this input - I wasn't aware links could be posted like that.

Waterfall Again, good to learn new information; I didn't know that any blogs counted your name a hyperlink, and haven't come across any that request a URL during the comment process, but I'll certainly look out for them! As mentioned above, I don't plan to link spam, simlpy garner some mutual benefit when I can contribute to a conversation - but thank you for your friendly reminder. Spam, like crime, doesn't pay! ;)
