That background is bothering my eyes maybe its the stripes looking like a illusion of some sort when you look at the content boxes it throws me off the content. Maybe change that to a different color thats lighter. Simple but yet effective good luck.
i dont like the background either, neither do i like all the adveriting on the left side... make the Adsense texts blend in better
