Hi guys/gals, Can anyone comment on this book - Building a Blog Empire For Profit (http://www.lightsparkle.com/product_page-1197.htm). On first glance it looks like those "get rich quick" solutions, which I don't buy for. But I read the introduction and it's well written and obviously the author is competent in the matter. If the price was lower I would buy it without any thought, but it's actually quite high. Would you give your opinion? Has anyone read the book?
I haven't read it, but I'd have to say my opinion is the price is way too high. Although if you don't worry about the rebranding rights, it may not be too bad at $47. Just be sure all links in the ebook are affiliate links. It seems a little high on hype, but it is not directly promising get-rich-quick. It could be just a slightly too rosy picture of blogging for cash. From what I've seen, it's not difficult in that you need some advanced degree or such. You do need to know something, (most people do) and you need to be disciplined enough to carry it out. Can't truly tell from just the index, but it doesn't seem to break new ground. You could probably find a good amount of the info here on DP, or on problogger or a few blog designer websites. I've spent too many $47's and other values, only to find that I could have gotten the info legitimately for free with just a little extra work, so I'm a bit wary of ebooks now.
I've read it. It's a pretty good book. There's NO WAY I would pay that much for it though. I would tell you where to get it for free but I can't post links yet. I'll come back!
As with most information products you pay for them to save you the time of doing the research and testing yourself. You have to make sure that you are the ideal target for the book - in that I mean it provides at least 1 or 2 (or more) nuggets of information that help you to recoup the cost of the book quickly AND most importantly that you are in the right place in your life to implement the techniques or will be soon. Most information products are underpriced when they exactly match the target buyer. I've spent thousands on ebooks and courses but only buy when they directly impact something I'm working on. Ignore the marketing hype and see what questions the book professes to answer. If you have those questions and they are things you are working on answering in your near future then buy the product. If it truly is crap then the money back guarantees will save you, which most products have, so you are 100% safe. It's a no brainer decision really. For example I'm about to launch a blog traffic course and I'm doing a proper "product launch" to create some buzz. I've never done a launch of my own product so I've spent some money, more than $1500, to make sure I have access to all the best knowledge on successfully launching a product. If I do things right I'll make that money back in the first day after launch or even quicker.
