Ok Im using a SEO tool and when I put my words in using cammas as separators, the tool says I need more words or not enough words.

But when I use periods to seperate the words I have more than enough.

The tool is telling me to have at least 30 words.

tool im using is here http://www.seoinstrument.com/

    You should use commas.

Is 30 keywords too many? I read elsewhere that 10 is a good number.

I read up to around 20, but to be honest out of all the meta tags the keywords one is about the least used by the search engines.

I've read that too, i.e. that the keywords tag is not really used by search engines anymore and that it might be just a quick way of letting a competitor know your keywords.

You have to use only few main keywords and rank high on them. Of course you can have 20 keywords and rank high with 3 of them- thats what i do.
If you have your main keywords in the content , then it can help a lot

Keywords is Dead and by Dead, I mean, Dead and nothing else but just Dead. Anyway, I don't think there is anything wrong in spending 5 seconds and putting the meta tag with 4 keywords and that too, all different.

By the way, thanks for telling about such a nice tool. I wasn't aware of it. :)
