Ok. I have come up with yet another question. What are the SE's reaction over apostrophe in meta keywords? Will I get ranked for both, non-apostrophe and apostrophe version?
In Google they provide different search results. E.g : harry's , harrys or harry s results difer considerably. I therefore conclude that you would prefer to write your keywords as you expect your target would search for them. Having said that, there is a general believe that Google doesn't take the meta keywords into account (don't know about Yahoo or others) but generally it is accepted that it won't harm either. Probably this is the reason why most sites still define meta keywords.
Yup...search engines stopped using the meta keywords tag a long time ago. It was just too easy to spam this section. Now the search engines have more sophisticated ways to see what your pages are about. They don't need to rely on you explicitly telling them.
Dont use them... for one... I think there's only one search engine that actually uses the meta keyword tag and for two... why let your competition see your targeted phrases if they bare hardly any weight on your ranking Hope this helps...
meta keywords have some use. they are actually recommended for adsense users in cases where you only have images or video with no text since they don't know what contextual content to put on our advertisements.
Always use that keyword that have more searches and traffic as well.... Measure that how much users getting keywords with apostrope after that decide your search keyword..
The SEs would just ignore apostrophes, but they don't. They treat words with apostrophes differently. You can always target the words with apostrophes throughout the site in different areas.
