Can you please tell me if this is considered a good way to optimize your website for search engines. Or, is it considered spammy?
Take a look at the footer of this webpage:

most people would consider that spam. if you want to fully optimize a site which mostly consists of pictures then you should add alt tags to each image, that way the search engines (and visually impaired web surfers) can pick up on the descriptions.

The text at the bottom in no way helps the user, so it's obviously directed at the SEs.

Not for users + only for SEs = SPAM!

    Definately Keyword spam.

Now if you had unique content that you could create around those keyword topics. then placed links to those content pages at the bottom of your page. Well you would be benifiting not only your readers, but you would also get a better result from the SE's.

If you wouldnt put it in an off-line add, chances are putting it on your webpage is not going to work, or be short-lived (in regard to spam etc)

So, if this was reported to Google it would probably be removed from their serps?
