Honestly, I never had any problems with Comcast. Tech support was pretty good too. Nonetheless I switched to Verizon only because Comcast could not compete with price/speeds. I get 15/15 for the same price I paid for 8/2 with Comcast. Verizon's FIOS phone service sucks. I get busy signals when I call home, what is this the 80's. The Internet speeds are sweet and that's what appeals to me. In addition Verizon has a contract with an early termination fee and Comcast was month to month / no contract, no early term fee. Once Comcast rolls out their new service, I'll drop Verizon.
I have Comcast now and for the most part I am happy with them. I had Verizon before and my DSL went out frequently. The customer service was not always the greatest and they use one of those annoying IVR systems that never understands what you are saying to it. LOL
Funny story...... a few summers ago Comcast marked the line behind my house and put up these orange flags. After about 6 months of moving them because they didn't come do whatever they marked and running them over with the lawnmower, I finally yanked out the flags and threw them away. 2 weeks ago the sprayed orange paint outside and put the flags up once again to mark the lines. Today I mowed the grass, yanked the flags out and threw them away. I turned the corner to the front of my house and there stood a Comcast repair coordinator (boss-like dress) who informed me that they were going to lay new lines out back. {The Verizon Fios line is out front} Of course there would be service interruptions, blah, blah, blah....... Comcast is laying new lines because they finally figured out that they can't fit the phone, cable, and internet using the same outdated lines. They probably want to run your security system or electric next. All in one deal for $99 {for the first 2 years, of course}. I think both companies stink. Don't fall for their tactics. Learn from the housing market, don't buy what you can't pay for. Don't pay $99 for something that WILL haunt you a few years later after the terms run out. If you do the math, it might save you a little in the shorterm but it will be the same if not higher than you're paying now without a stupid $99 deal. They care about getting your service and adding pointless options to make your bill go higher after your 2 years is up. Let Verizon and Comcast slug it out, Let them underprice each other. Then again who really needs them when you can get a cheap cell phone plan, a $50 month internet surf card for your laptop, and yes free government regulated digital TV in 2009! Yes we have on demand (in demand) too - we call them DVDs, Blueray, and Youtube.
