Hi, my company has 5 sites www.123.com www.abc.com etc They all rank pretty well, but they want to combine them all into one BIG site like this: www.bigsite.com/company123/ www.bigsite.com/companyabc/ The sites are getting completely new redesign, so no duplicate content issues if both sites are up at the same time for a while. So do we launch this new site and then do redirects from www.abc.com to www.bigsite/companyabc/ and leave both sites up for a few months? ________________________ The other question is, if www.abc.com got good rankings under keyword "abc" do i just shift my link building strategy to linking with anchor text "abc" to the new URL www.bigsite/companyabc/ ________________________ Any pitfalls or dangers to look out for? This is a huge company and if not done right could be very revenue impacting - thanks for your input in advance!
redirect www.bigsite.com/company123/ to www.123.com www.bigsite.com/companyabc/ to www.abc.com Always use 301 permanent redirects. If you build new website you will lose your rankings.
