Okay I do really wanna know about it. Lets say 'Example' is the exact keyword I want in my domain. .COM has been taken up by GoDaddy and my competitor is using TheExample.com. Now I want to know if Google focuses more on .COM domains than .US domains or ranks the .COM domains more than the .US domains. On searching my Keyword for the last 7 days in Google Insights, I see 100% Regional Interest for that keyword is found inside the United States. I just want to be sure if taking Example.US would be the right choice for me and won't affect global rankings.
Google more focus on .com extension but your competitor create much links form you then Google boost your competitor website.
Focus on what I said before you guys reply. All my traffic would be from US so why shouldn't a US domain be better.
And how can you say that ? Even Google Webmaster Tools show targeted users in USA depending upon the domain.
From experience, Google seems to favor .COM more, but if your content is better and your SEO in general is a higher level, you will surpass your competitor in rankings regardless of the extension you choose. .COM is generally the favored extension because everyone defaults to thinking of it. So when branding your site with a .US, you should try to emphasize the extension a little so there is no confusion.
