.com vs. net (rank in search result listings)

I found a great domain name with a .net extension.
I was wondering if google gives priority to a .com domain name ?
Or are .com and .net given equal priority from google?

I don't think so. In Google eyes I believe they are equal. A web site is a web site.

However, what you should consider doing is thinking how people might remember the domain name. People will most often remember a .com name than a .net name.

I think that's what you should focus on.

I see your point and I thought about this myself also, but it´s a real good domain name (I think...). Thx for your input.

There's noone who can say Google prefer .com or another domain. What is said .gov and .edu sites and links are more valued, but I cna't confirm that.

some SEO suggest that .org is better than others, but I don't believe it.

.net and .com - the only advantage is that .com is easier to remember and often expected. If your website has a .com counterpart then expect to loose some traffic by people typing in the .com instead.

Nope, it doesnt matter bud. Google sees them all as the same.

however, when trying to SELL the domain, .net is usually worth less than .com

But restricted domains, such as .edu, can be given more weight (at least a link from a .edu can be better than a link from a .com).

But if you expect people to come to your site by typing in the domain, the .net is tought to swallow.

With regard to SEO, there's no difference.

always try to get the .com one.
The difference is a very nig one, not for seo, but for all the rest.

Google don't care for the tld, but .com though

.com domains are more popular than .net domains, they also have a higher value than the later..

I would suggest to get a .com coz most online users are used with the .com extension when searching...
