Hello I was just wondering... what is better a .com or .net domain name or does it really matter???? Like for example I have the domain name "BodybuildingForums.net" which I'm thinking of starting up, but than again I'm thinking that since it's a .net it wouldn't do well or does it matter? is .net good? Thanks
well i think the domain names are made not for just that .com is better than .net . com = .commercial like if you gonna sell something through or it is a company .net is about network and sharing ideas i think your .net is better for your forums and you know it is not important is it .net or .com it is just about how will you rank in search engines your site would be good if you just make it appear in search engines
Sweet thanks both of you for your reponse... so to lordadel... bodybuildingforums.net would be good cause it's a network/community, etc...? awesome! didn't think of it that way... also with the name bodybuildingforums.net this would have good keywords to rank good in search engines am I right? Thanks
YES IT DOES,,AS more pople search .com that net...so say...if you looked up goole you put google.com not google.net
Look if you search for "Car Forums" the .net is before the .com of "carforums" http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&q=car+forums&btnG=Google+Search&meta=
I don't have the option of choosing between the two, I'm with a .net ... but like many ppl have said I don't think it matters... CONTENT is KING.
The only possible reason that .com might be better is because visitors tend to think of .com first when typing the URL in the address bar. Other than that, there's no difference.
a .com is worth a lot more than a .net domain & is easier for people to remember so you'll lose some type in traffic to them, but from an SEO point of view, it doesn't matter what extention you have.
you can always go for .net it's true they doesn't sell as great as .coms but if you want to create a website it's perfect
The .com is usually better. Normal people, not internet marketers) will not pay attention to the suffix. If they were going to type in your url from memory, chances are it will end with a .com. Also, I know from experience that a lot of the spam filters will kill the .net emails. So if you are emailing to your list, don't use the .net if you can help it.
If your serious about making money I would go for the .Com first but register the .net if you can get both. Protect your @SS . -Luke
