Dot infos cost less then 2$ nowdays. So buy the .com, and make the .info redirect to your .com!

Buy the .com and do a 301 redirect with .htaccess for the .info domain.

Where do you get .info for 15 cents???

get the .com, you could also pick up the .info as well. only $2 extra.

I had always assumed that the domain name extension never really mattered, but Godaddy has .com and .info versions of a new domain I was thinking about and the .info is only for 0.99 cents per year. So I was curious to know if there are limitations for .info or is it just a a regular domain like .com? Thanks.

its the same as a .com even for seo. The only difference is branding, people will assume that your domain ends with .com so you'll likely get less type in traffic with a .info The suggested advice is get both and redirect to your preferred name.

Thanks. It is kinda hard to decide when you could buy 100 sites with .info domains for $100 or .com domains for $1000 per year

I fully agree, that is why you should decide which sites are worth the .com and which really arent.

I would never say that it doesn't matters.

I still believe firmly that .com is better then .info

    So it does matters.

Never really matters. I try to match the extension with the type of website it is. .com = commercial/general while .info = informative (or so)

As said, the prices are based on demand/popularity.

It all depends on how you optimize the site and how you promote it! There is no traffic restriction for any of those.

I prefer .com over .info ;)

Maybe in a few years .info will be almost as popular as .com so I should give it a try :)

I always wondered if search engines give more preference to dot com domains over others. Is that the case ?
