.com has an air of authority. Sort of like 800 number vs. 888.

Eh. I wouldn't say that. It's more like amateurish, and not thinking outside the box. Much like the rest of the comments in this stuck record of a thread.

But they do make me giggle like a little boy watching Saturday morning cartoons. :D

The only reason I would go for something other than a .com would be because I can get a kick-butt name with .net or .org. So can you? All things equal - you go with .com. And I will echo another sentiment: .biz sites might not automatically mean "scam" or "low budget"...but I do think: "why couldn't they get .com" or there is a sort of mental devaluing that happens - as a first impression. You can always overcome it - but why start yourself off in a hole?

    Go for the .com.
    Good Luck.

    Not true.

    .com - Commercial
    .us - American

There is a lot of wisdom in this comment. We in the industry are real big into extensions and how to use them. However, John Q Public isn't. They know .com and for most of the general public that is all they know. Throw them a curve like .biz or net and they my be confused.

I have a .us and I gave the url to someone recently who owns a website and he said "I didn't know .us existed."
