.Com Versus .Net

What is the best way to go?
I'm building a new blog, but of course the .com adress I wanted was already taken. But the .net was available. Is it better to think of a new name I can get at .com, or what do you all think? Is there a big difference between these two domains? My feeling is, that .com is always the best...

.com is definitely the best. Personally, I would never use a .net domain for a site, especially not if I wasn't the owner of the .com as well.

It depends on your business, if you are planing to start a networking company e.g. juniper.net go for .net or if it is .NET related e.g. asp.net,
    else go for .com .

I really have know preference I have .com, .net, and .org sites they all work the same way. I guess in life most people always think of .com but it really does not matter.

people remember .com but you can go for any domain.. all depends is the content of your website. If it is great people will remember you no matter what extension you have.. But try to use a .com

First, think of what your site is going to be about. Come up with your keywords. The domain name that is the most memorable and has your keywords best positioned and everything is the one you should pick. If the .com is already taken, get the .net. You might actually get some business from people looking for the .com. If you really want that name, you should go with .net.

Most people are biased in favor of .com but it doesn't realy matter to the search engines. Personally I'd go for .com but if .net is also available I'll grab both ;)

From and SEO perspective theres no advantage of using .com or .net.

If people like your site they will probably save it to their favorites.

the only time i see a .com being a better choice, is when people assume thats the correct domain extension and end up somewhere else.

I would agree with WPOSolns.. It hasnt made any difference for me in SEO whether com or net.

If you want people to remember your address theyll have a better chance of remembering if dot com.. but otherwise wouldnt matter and theyll add it to favourites if they like it :)

    If possible, get other .com

On the other hand... "big boys" are also using .net. Think about problogger.net for example... (he recently purchased the .com - but that was way before his growth)

.net can be fine (but again - I would think about getting .com if possible).

.com is better, you will be losing some site traffic to the .com due to type in traffic typos.

I think you should choose .com for only one reason, because it looks better. (That's it) But as for SEO and PR it's all the same.

I think Im gonna go for the .com sollution then. What I thought was the best as well, but you never know! I just have to come up with a better name than the one I already wanted, since it's taken, and Im not willing to pay a huge amount, just because someone took the name deliberately and wants to sell it, earning a lot (sorry, but I think that's bad for the internet)
