I have not seen a difference but I have seen many places where they suggests .com is the best but like I said I have not noticed any difference.

    No, they don't rank differently.
However I prefer .com because it's just a little bit more user friendly than .net ;)

.com are some of the most expensive domains if you're trying to sell your domain later on.

There is currently no difference in the way the two are treated by search engines, but .com is widely accepted to be more brandable and more valuable in almost all cases.

no difference in rankings but yes from user point of view many people still use .com

therefore if u have a .net then a lot of ur visitors will go mistakenly to the .com version

The only difference is branding. You may lose some traffic if you reside on the net domain..

Why not take both and redirect the .net ... or isn't that allowed?

no different in SEO point of view but different in brand recognition. normally people will think of .com before .net though.

you should definitely choose .com, but it's not related to SEO, but for returning visitors and branding

None at all, but for branding nothing comes close to a .com.

Not in anyway... .com is remembers for most... for example if we say digitalpoint all knows link is digitalpoint.com.... if tat not avilable only they will search for other....

As for my knowledge for web 2.0 choosing domain name is not considered as SEO....
