I currently have Songr as songr.net, but I recently acquired songr.com as well. There are already many links to songr.net, so I don't know whether to just redirect .com, or make .com the main domain and redirect .net. What do you guys think?
I'd make two seperate sites and try to get good rankings for both of them. I wouldn't waste all the links you built for the .net site But, of course, usually people prefer .com's because they are easier to remember. If you have a .net site then remember to put emphasis on the TLD in ads. For example, don't advertise songr.net as "songr". Advertise it as "songr .net"
This is my exact thought. .com is still the most valuable IMO, and most recognizable/seen as reliable to the everyday internet user.
Build two websites for them and then direct .com to .net becuase you already have a lot of inbound links.
COM domains are valuable if you are thinking to sell the domain, but if you have a reputation with the NET I don't see the point risking your actual links and traffic redirecting. I would develop and independent website and make king the NET, this is Songr Network, the site ruling the COM and perhaps the INFO if you want to.
Let .net in place and develop .com in same niche but with other content (unique which you can not find in .net) then promote .com also and link between them !! Good luck, R.
I would say .COM domain name is recommended here. But I suppose for the online business web site .NET domain name is pretty good option.
i think if if with . com you can get will be the best I think you take. com, but. net is also good if there are keywords in the domain
Because you had .net first and have worked with that, better to make .com 301 redirect. Ofc .com will always be the most valuable (that is at least until - possibly - the domain industry evolves into something new and different that doesn't use TLDs) and good to have in case people think of your name and type .com (even though majority of your traffic is likely to be links so there shouldn't be too much of that problem).
I suggest you to upload your old site on .com, start to put content on it and put a redirect 301 on your .net pages, so you don't lose your rankings and pagerank on .net and you will get new traffic on .com (that is more valuable if you thinking to sell in future). I suggest you to owrite an article for your visitors where you said that you move on .com tld
I would say it doesn't make much difference if you promote your business solely on the internet as the hyperlink are most of the time are live and clickable..however if you are dealing with offline business, .com is definitely better coz people seems to remember .com more than .net SEO wise, that doesn't make any difference..
Well, if I were to change the domain to .com, I would have to wait a bit (takes a while to push a domain). If I were to keep .net, then I could start further development right now.
Frankly speaking, the wisest choice is to redirect to dot com, and keep dot net for further development for the long run.
yourdomain.com and yourdomain.net are helpful if you want to build on/redirect search traffic to your domains. The website ranking mostly depends on the website content and relevance. The Search Engines tend to have favourable preference of .com and .net, including the general internet audience.
