com net org branding

If anyname .com is taken and parked only, and I own anyname .org or net, is it a good idea to invent a brand and logo and declare domain meaning before .com colegue realizes same idea for domain branding, or this doesn't matter at all?

 

i would suggest branding as soon as possible. having a true usage of the brand prior to anyone else is beneficial.

I would say at this point in time, the majority of the population is conditioned to type in and go to .com before any other extension. As an AM and a Domainer I feel that .com is king and shall always prevail as the dominant extension.

Based on my statements above, I feel you will most likely have troubles with branding the .org and .net, unless you have a very large bank account. Even then, I feel you would still have issues.

Branding the .org and .net seems like a waste of time and money. Make an offer to buy .com instead.

 

having a .com brand will definitely pay in the long run..

 

the answer is yes if your names are high quality. otherwise it is a waste.

 

all browsers by default search for .com domains first. You brand will thus always be second to the .com domain though it may be parked or unused.
