Hi, I was wondering if google search algorithm gives higher preference to a .com vs a .co domain. I have a site name using my business name "ParwaniLawFirm.com" and another one which has the keywords "usImmigrationLawyer.co" (without the m). I am debating which would be better to use, one is a .com domain and the other has the keywords I would like to be searched for. Any advise would be appreciated. thanks,
.com domain is good for your visitors and the other with the keywords will help your SERPS. so it's up to you- or your site business targets to decide
thanks upyougo, so if i mainly care about google search rankings, it would be better to go with usimmigrationlawyer.co (even though it is not a .com domain)? thanks,
the meaning of .com and .co is the same- both are commercial. becasue .co is more expensive I even think it should benefit from the google algo in some way. in generally- if your domain name is made from three- or four highly competitive words i'm sure it would face a sandbox. I think it will be the issue in your case... I hope for you that it won't.
.com is best from all the other domains it cover all the domains in search engine and easy to remember.
If you want to compare .com in term of seo, you have to compare with other generic domain extension such as net / org / biz / info. You cannot compare .com to .co since they were originated for a different purpose. Domain .com are generally ranking well in Google.com while .co is more specific and may not perform well in Google.com anyway.
.com is simply for commercial purpose and as your site is for commercial purpose so it can help more to achieve your goal, as well its also good according user point of you that is why .com is better.
Google will not give preference treatment to any of the two domain extension, they are all equal in the eye of Google.
In my opinion the primary reason .CO domain names could become valuable is because regular people and companies want them as an alternative to .COM.
I prefer .com domains but there could still be a few nice .co domains that are already taken as .com domain.
He is not asking about pagerank though, he just wants to rank well which is something completely different.
Presonally, I would take a look at what keyword attracts the most searches, and is the less competitive and go for that. I would also factor in that the .com is a much better extension so if "Parwani Law Firm" is only a little way behind "US immigration lawyer" then i would still go for the .com.
guys, this has been very helpful. I have done some work already on parwanilawfirm.com, so i think i might stick it out with the same. thanks for all the advice.
