I've just got this newsletter from Directi

This explains solid resons that the .com domain prices will increese in near future. The main reason is the announced agreement between ICANN and Verisign.
You may send your comments to to let them know what you think about that agreement.

Already there are news of lot of protest against the proposed agreement between ICANN and Verisign. You may read the selected comments on: http://forum.icann.org/lists/settlement-comments/ OR send your own comment to ICANN using thieir e-mail:

I had already sent the protest letter , I would request all other people as well to take this matter strongly with ICANN.

Also if you have different domains , send different email from all your domains.

for the person who red repped me. I meant Verisign raising prices, not the person posting the article.

Well it is a bit of hyperbole though.. I don't think it is unreasonable that verisign should be able to raise the price of registrations over time. 7% seems to sound like the cap, not that they would necessarily raise it that much every year.

I think a rate half that would be more reasonable. I get the impression that some people think verisign should live in a time warp and never be able to raise the price of .com domains from the ridiculously cheap price of $6 a year.

Labeling this as the word deal ever made is just silly.

The increase will be 7% EACH year! To someone that has dozens and dozens of domains, this is very serious...

i think that advertising earnings and internet traffic have gone up enought to justify it.
i mean if you can think of a half decent name it will make more than 8$ a year.

also i'm jealous of poeple who hoard 1000's of domains then when i try to find a domain to develop my idea for a site i have to either buy something for some $$$ or get stuck with a crappy name.

i'd rather the internet have more developed sites and less parked pages so i'm all for the increase. even though i own 200 or so domains and a domain reseller. :p
