hello all, do you guys think the domain business is really dead? i meant the .com domains, since there are many other dot(names) coming out lately..
its not dead, its just covered alot.. very common names are already taken. but if you have unique business i a sure you find the the name foryour company/business in .com domain.
It could be on its way - have you seen the thread about Google and how tainted domains are never getting a fresh start. That will kill off a significant number of .com domains. Then there are the domains that will never be traded because they are owned by real, active businesses. What's left is a collection of unusable or tainted domains with a small scattering of valuable domains.
Many people lose focus on the real issue which is not the EMD of the SEO or some other significant values domains have. The primary focus is the awareness to the surfer's mind for each of these TLDs. People should be educated by using real examples from these new TLDs. Hold that to your mind and compare it with the majority of people that until now don't know that the www part of the domain is not required to enter a website and you'll understand that COMs will not fade.
It's not dead...I think .COM is only getting in more demand as other extensions get released. While I do believe some of the other extensions which used to sell have slowed down (NET/BIZ/INFO), I think sales are still strong for COM and some ccTLDs, I also think they are starting to pickup for some of the newer extensions.
.com is definitely not dead, I am still making money reselling domains, while gtld may expand the market, .Com i think will still say as the one extension that everyone company should own, to look professional in my opinion.
I don't think it's dead. That would be ridiculous. I still love .com instead of .company or so long .tld I think there are many people like me who still prefer .com so don't think it's dead.
Domain business isn't dead in my own opinion. Actually, if you have the right knowledge, you can still turn an $8 investment for a domain to a thousand dollars.
Actually the registrations of .com increased more than all new gTLD's combined. However .net et al. gTLD are already getting weaker.
The .COM is still the preferred choice of TLD amongst people. While most of the good .COM domain names are taken, there are still plenty of valuable .COMs still available in the market. It would take some time for people to get acquainted with the new gTLDS and start using them actively.
