.COM and .NET to cost more :(

I got a mail this morning from Name.com stating :

    Hello ~~~~~~,

As many of our customers are already aware, VeriSign®, the organization who manages the .COM and .NET registry, has announced a price increase for both of these extensions beginning on July 1, 2010

    VeriSign Price Increase

The price for .COM registrations will increase by 7% and the new price for .NET registrations will go up by 10%.

The VeriSign price increase will apply to new registrations as well as renewals that occur on or after July 1st. As a result we will be forced to increase our prices for .COM and .NET registrations and renewals starting July 1st as well.

We strongly advise our customers to avoid these price increases on their existing domain names by renewing your domain names before June 30, which will add an additional year of registration to your domain at the currently lower prices.

Name.com realizes that this price increase will have a financial impact on our customers so we've taken two additional steps to help you save money before the VeriSign price increase goes into effect.

    Renewal Promotion

We're offering a renewal promotion for .COM and .NET domains until June 30th to help you save money. Use the promo code "SAVENOW" when you renew you your .COM or .NET domain names and pay ONLY $8.15 per domain which will add an additional year of registration time to your current expiration date.

    A Real $6.99 Transfer Promotion

If you have domains that aren't with Name.com and you want to save even more money before the price increase, transfer your domains to Name.com and pay only $6.99 for .COM and .NET transfers!

Other companies promote $6.99 transfers but when you read the fine print they add an ICANN fee to the price or your can only use the promotion once. Not with Name.com. No promo code needed. ICANN fee INCLUDED. No limit to the number of domains you can transfer at this price.

What's the catch? You have to complete the transfer on or before June 30, 2010, before the price increase starts.

Transfer your domains today and save as much as $2.00 per domain!

As always, thank you for your business and allowing us to be your domain registrar.

    Regards,

    Name.com Team

Wonder how much they are going to make with everyone renewing their domains right now. I've heard people are looking to renew right now for several years.

Good idea. However some domain name registrars can prevent doing that ;)
But some will never increase the price
