You have to choose the colors for your website that proved to be converting. It's depend on what's topics you're in and your target audience as well. Business / make money website= Blue Female / beauty website= Pink Healthy related website= green, red, orange Hope this may help you.

For Insurance, I think should be the light and professional feels colors. such as light blue, dark green with blue, yellow. Red??? it's a bit of bloody feels for insurance website. Quite terrible...
If you are promoting a related product. Try to match the similarity of the theme & feel with the product's website you are promoting. It will help your conversion too as based on my previous test and experience.
For insurance, i would prefer to have it in black and white or gray (especially for backgrounds) for simplicity and professionalism aspect. Just an opinion..
Any color that is easy on the eyes... warm colors such as blue green etc... I like to use black and white a lot
