Coloring (special effect) the text as announcer speaks them

I am showing a paragraph of text on screen that announcer will read. I want to add a special effect to change the color of the words or letters gradually to match the announcer speaking them. i.e. the words/letters will change color as the announcer speaks them.
How this can be done in HTML5 to make sure that this will work on smartphones and tablets too.
