Color scheme of my site?

I'm just starting to put together a forum and some people have said that my colors look bad, I don't really want to change the blue and I'm not too sure about the pink text :/

Hi,

from my little experience with this, I suggest you change the color since you like the blue background keep it. Change the color of fonts ,the blue background could be more light blue, I think it would look better.

The banner is now fixed, but about the colors, yea I could change the shades of the blue. What color do you think would look good on the text?

 

I find the Pink text near the top difficult to read, I would make that White and make the links a different colour.

When you say body text, what exactly are you referring to? i.e. board title, board descriptions, what's going on section.......?

 

Sorry, I mean the almost all of the text on the home page like the announcement at the top (tells you to register), the forum descriptions, and the text in the whats going on section

For the board descriptions if you don't want White maybe try #738FBF, although it doesn't stand out as much as White, so if you want to use it I would make the description font size a little larger.

Also if it was me I would change the font across the whole forum to Arial, it's not the fanciest font but it's the most commonly used because it's easy to read.

 

It would make it easier for you if you install Firebug that way you can play around and see what colours work and only when you are happy no you need to edit your css file.

The color, you have selected for your site is good but if you still want to change then i think you should choose the color which highlight your content like black background and white color of content...

 

You never can not make every people happy about your site. But what you can do is try to do it as an artistic work that people will watch as a viewer.

 

Not going to tell you what exact colors to use on it, but check out online tools such as Adobe Kuler who generate pretty decent color schemes that you can use.

 

Hey there! I don't think there is anything wrong with the blues you are using.

The problem is that there is no color scheme. You have over a dozen different blues in the mix and that gets heavy on the eye.

I would pick out 3-4 shades of blue and consistently use those in the design.

Also, I would suggest that you use two different colors, not just blue. Try experimenting with gray.
