Do we have to stick to the colors that are in the pallette? or can we specify our own colors when making a channel?

I cannot find a suitable background color and want to use my own one

I've messed around with the colors by manually typing in the numbers and letters for each color, but in the end I just changed my background color to match their options. It was just easier that way for me, plus I'm not sure what G thinks about changing their colors...

Anyone else care to take a gander at this one?

Yes, you are allowed to change the colors to match your site. All you need to do is create a custom color pallette by specifying colors for the different elements.

I don't have any color templates saved. I just use the default code and then manually customize the colors by changing the hex codes.

I realize this...I have quite a few custom pallettes saved for my various sites.

Maybe I misunderstood the question, but I know I've had problems where the colors offered in the pallette are a shade off from my own, therefor changing the hex codes manually would be required to get a perfect match. I'm assuming since they are left open to change that Google doesn't object.

As long as you do it whilst logged in and create it in the actual pallette I guess it's OK.
Don't tamper with the script otherwise.
