COLOCATION Colocation being offered the first time ever, on DigitalPoint forums. Before I get started telling you about the deal, there are many members here itself on DP, who don't know what colocation really means. Let me just brief you on colocation and what is covered under it and then I'll get onto telling you about the deal. What Is Colocation? Renting a secure space with reliable network connectivity in a data center while maintaining your own equipment. The colocation service provider takes care of your equipment providing it with bandwidth, power and cooling facilities at a low monthly cost. Servers are connected to the internet backbone of the service provider's datacenter. Whom does colocation suit? Everyone, from personal users, small businesses to large corporations use colocation services to house their servers. Building a datacenter for a few servers becomes too expensive and complicated. Hence colocation is used as an alternative to building a datacenter. It is also suitable for webhosting providers who sell dedicated servers to their clients. Even people leasing servers use colocation to bring the monthly server costs down. I do not live in the USA, How do I colocate servers to you? Don't worry, If you're not from the USA, you can either order the equipment from an American Hardware provider and have the server shipped to us OR you can pay us for the hardware and we'll build the server for you Check the BTO section for further details on this. Where will the servers be housed? Servers will be housed in the hostNOC facility in P.A, USA(burstNET). What kind of network do you have? We own a few racks within the HostNOC datacenter, and have built ourselves a kind of "mini-datacenter"(a private cage) within their datacenter. We have a total of 2Gbit/s bandwidth pool. All servers are connected to this bandwidth pool via 10/100/1000 Mbps ports. Our bandwidth providers are: Level3, Cogent, Global Crossing, PCCW What is the minimum term for colocating with you? If you colo with us, your server has to be housed at our datacenter for a minimum of 1 month. That's it, after which, if you want to pull your server out, just arrange for the pickup(or pay us for the shipping) and we'll have your server shipped back to you or any other location in the world(as far as you pay for the shipping) What if a harddrive or any other component in my server fails? As soon as we are notified of a failed component in your machine, we immediately get to work...We have the component replaced within a matter of minutes(since we generally have RAMs and HDDs in stock, alot of them)..Let us suppose your harddrive failed, we then replace the harddrive as soon as you inform us, and then you can decide whether you want to pay us for the harddrive or have another shipped to us, so we can remove ours and replace it with yours. You will barely see any downtime since we're extremely quick at working on such issues. Our colocation packages are the most competitive. They are too good to be true, but they ARE true.
