Collapsing two domains into one

    Hello

I recently acquired a new domain name which is perfect for my niche.

My current site has a ton of pages indexed in the big 3 SE and are well ranked. I don't want to lose the rankings, but I do want to move everything over to the new domain.

    Two questions:

    (1) Is there any way to duplicate all the pages onto the new domain, and somehow redirect all the pages on the old domain to the new one without getting the dreaded duplicate content filter.

    (2) Also, there are also a lot of backlinks to the old domain. Many of the links are from blog postings about articles I posted. Obviously it wouldn't be practical to go back to each site and ask them to update their links to my new site.

So, similar to question 1, is there any way to have the backlinks that point to the old site, have value on the new site?

    Thank you

You'll need a 301 redirect from the old domain to the new one
