    Dear friends,

I am a basic level developer in ColdFusion. I have been working with one web application since 6 months. I want to know whether we can create desktop applications using Coldfusion or not, which means is it possible to create windows based applications (desktop applications - like in dot net) using Coldfusion ?

    Can anyone clear my doubt.

    Thanks in advance.

I think what you're looking for is Adobe Air. It just came out of beta, I believe.

Here is a great presentation by Zach Stepek that he recently did for the Scottish CFUG on developing ColdFusion powered AIR applications with Flex 3. In the presentation he builds an desktop mail client using AIR/ColdFusion.
