To be successful in cold calling, you have to do two things: Target the right prospects Give these prospects a Targeted sales pitch of specific interest to them For example, we all hate cold calls and spam emails. However, if someone approached me by telephone and/or email to sell me the latest fishing gizmo (I love to fish) I would be interested and not offended by the contact. On the other hand, if the Avon lady calls and tries to sell me (a male) make-up, I will not be happy. It's that simple and ignoring the above will cause you to suffer greatly as a cold caller and have sub-optimal results.
