This weekend, I logged into google.com/webmasters which i haven't done for ages. I noticed an error for all my sitemaps which I never noticed before. Apparently I added my sites as domain.com to google webmasters which wasn't consistent with my sitemaps which had the www.domain.com prefix. Anyhow, I deleted all my domains and readded them as www.domain.com and re-added all my sitemaps. That was on Sunday and today I noticed three of my sites which haven't made a blip on the search engine radar are appearing in my rank checker (will display if less than 200) for both Yahoo or Google. One is 182 for Yahoo, another 105 for Yahoo and another is now 13 for Google. These are for 3 celeb sites I made in June. I've deemed being too low paying a niche so I haven't been concentrating on them too much. But looks like I should start investing more effort now that I've broken the 200 barrier. Could all 3 just be coincidence that they've now broken 200? Or is it the redoing of my google webmasters entries.
It probably isn't a coincidence. The search engines don't like it when a website is referenced both with and without the www. I normally setup a 301 redirect for people accessing my websites without the www. If you only made changes in your Google webmaster account, it wouldn't make sense for it to affect your Yahoo rankings too. So perhaps it is just a coincidence. By the way, what do you use for a rank checker?
