Hello all I hope someone can educate me I have a design contest that I want to post for a 1 page website, but before doing this I am unsure about the issue of coding. 1) If i posted a contest here and got a nice uncoded design, where exactly would I post to get the coding done? 2) I am wondering about how to pick a coder. Are there different styles and qualitys of coders (like designers) or is it more cut & dried: the deisign will either be coded properly and it works or it will not? 3)Once the design is coded, is it ready to FTP straight onto my webspace? Thanks in advance for taking time to enlighten me Prune
It is probably best to request coded in your competition. If a design works it doesn't necessarily mean the code is well structured/has no errors firefox webdeveloper toolbar is good for checking this. And once a site is coded (properly) all you'd have to do is put it on your webserver . Any more questions feel free to drop me a pm.
I actually wouldn't ask for coding in the contest section. Most of the designers that hang around this section don't know how to code, so you won't get many entries. Instead, I think you should: 1. Start a contest requesting a PSD template design, maybe a $150 prize 2. Pick out a winner, get the PSD, and request some Valid XHTML and CSS coding in the programming forum. Offer a reward of about $50. 3. Get the coded files, upload, and your done
Thanks for the advice both of you. I'll post a contest shortly. The bit I can't understand is can the coder convert the PSD exactly. Will his/her finished coded deisgn look exactly the same as the contest winners design, or does it change slightly in the coding? Prune
if the designer is good and makes a code able design, it should be fairly straight forward to code. The finished product might differ slightly, especially when it comes to exact font sizes, line heights and stuff like that.
2. Being a coder my self i can say... Yes there are qualities of coding, some peoples will not code a valid xhtml and css, and those who will, will most likely charge more. Thanks - Brain
