Coding of keywords

    Good day -

    I tried this in the "Keywords" forum without success...

    I'm attempting to make keywords dynamic, for about 60 pages. The pages in question carry listings of events (a specific type of adult gathering) and there is one page for each state. My question concerns the proper way to code the names of states that have two words in them, such as New York, North Dakota and so forth.

    If I want to use a two-word keyword/keyphrase, can I simply single-quote the keyphrase, like this -

    <meta name="keywords" content= " 'New York', then the rest of the keywords...">

    or do I have to have a separate line for the two word keyphrase, like this -

    <meta name="keywords" content= " the rest of the single-word keywords..." >
    <meta name="keywords" content= " 'New York' " >

    I can write a script to do this either way. I wrote a sample script to do this - the script gets the name of the state; I can make it print the state name in the proper place with the proper punctuation. I just don't want to take what looks like the easy way (single-quotes) only to discover that the words and phrases can't be read by the spiders.

    Many thanks in advance for your help.

    The first option is what you need. No ' ' around New York.

    Never used quotes of any kind in keywords with meta tags. I know it's normal for php coding, but not strict html unless it's the beginning and end of an attribute

    Its never good to add any think other than the main keywords into the meta tag

    <meta name-"keywords" content="main key word, more keywords divided by(,)">

    Meta tag should have no more than 155 characters.

    Note: google don't use meta tags under there SEO, and thus will hav no benefits with google search engine.

    No harm in using meta tags, as long as they are below 155 characters, Reason: facebook and other SN sites use meta tags in there posts.
